Eight writers, six weeks, work due every Monday
The workshop is capped at eight because nine is a lecture. Everyone submits, everyone reads everyone, and we spend the session on the work rather than on craft theory you can get from a book. It is also, frankly, the cheapest way to find out whether you and I are a good fit before you consider spending real money on an edit.
What's included
- Six weekly sessions, ninety minutes, hybrid in-person and Zoom
- Eight writers maximum, every single time
- Your work read and critiqued by the group twice in the six weeks
- Written notes from me on every submission, not just verbal
- A reading at the end for anyone who wants one, and no pressure for anyone who does not
Who this is for
- People with a book started
- Most of the room. You have pages, you are stuck somewhere specific, and you want six weeks of other readers who are also stuck somewhere specific.
- People writing for their families
- A growing part of the room, and the one I did not expect. Retirees writing their own stories down for children and grandchildren, not for publication. Different pressure, different pace, and often the best work in the group.
- People finding out whether they like this
- You have never workshopped anything and you are not sure you want an editor. Six weeks and a small fee is a cheap way to find out.
Worth asking any editor
Workshops fill from the mailing list before they are ever announced publicly. If a session says full, ask about the next one rather than assuming.
